Reflecting on a Banner Year at Auman Landscape

As we wrapped up 2024 at Auman Landscape, I wanted to take some time to reflect on what was truly a banner year for our company. When my wife Brittany and I sat down to review the year, we realized just how much progress we had made across so many areas of the business. The top line numbers tell part of the story - we hit $1.2 million in revenue, which was a new high for us. But what I'm most proud of is how we achieved that growth. With just 4 field staff, our team produced $1.1 million in revenue. Brittany and I also contributed $100k in field work ourselves, showing that we're not afraid to get our hands dirty. Even more impressive was our ability to maintain a 17.9% profit margin, which was a testament to the financial discipline we've instilled in the company. Working closely with our CPA and using software like LMN for accurate bidding has been game-changing. No more guessing on the numbers - we know exactly where we stand. Of course, the financials are just one piece of the puzzle. We also made huge strides in developing our sales process and project management systems. Early in the year, I spent a ton of time mapping out our client intake workflow, creating questionnaires, and documenting the entire sales experience. This has allowed us to provide a much more professional, consultative approach with our clients. On the project management side, we implemented a new weekly reporting system to keep clients in the loop on progress and upcoming needs. No more last-minute change orders or surprises. Our field team is now required to submit detailed weekly summaries, which get compiled and sent to the client. This has been a game-changer for communication and accountability. Perhaps most importantly, Brittany and I have continued to invest in our own personal and professional development. We've been doing monthly marriage coaching, which has really helped us navigate the challenges of running a business together. We've also leaned heavily on our network of industry mentors, attending masterminds and conferences to sharpen our skills. As we look ahead to 2025, our sights are set even higher. We're aiming for $2.2 million in revenue, which will require us to grow our field team to 7 people. It's an aggressive goal, but I'm confident that with the systems and processes we've put in place, we can achieve it. Of course, growth brings its own set of challenges. Training new hires, maintaining quality control, and ensuring strong client relationships will all be critical. But I'm energized by the opportunity, and I know that Brittany and I are better equipped than ever to lead our team to new heights. So as I reflect on 2024, I'm filled with gratitude. It's been an incredible journey, with plenty of ups and downs. But through it all, we've stayed focused on our vision, invested in the right areas, and seen the fruits of our labor. I can't wait to see what 2025 has in store.
